Job description:

PostDoc position “abrupt changes and extremes in The Eurasian climate system as a reaction on the oscillation of the arctic sea ice over time” (m/f/d)

Background

We examine the climate relationship between the Arctic and the mid- latitudes, focusing on the abrupt changes and extremes in the Eurasian climate system in response to the temporal fluctuations of the Arctic sea ice. The requested project will establish up-to-date climate scenarios and database for the Arctic and Eurasian climates to understand the correlation between climate-driving processes of the high and mid-northern latitudes and their relation to global climate variability.

Tasks

climate modelling with AWI-ESM and data analysescooperation with international partners in China

examine “Abrupt climate shifts and extremes over Eurasia in response to Arctic sea ice change”

Requirements

PhD in climate science or related field

experience in modelling and data analyses

documentation of results in international reviewed journals.

Desirable knowledge/skills

knowledge in AWI-ESM model development and applications, as well as statistical data analyses.
